More Than Just Clothing

Whoopeecat is much more than an inclusive brand of vibrantly colored, stylish items – in fact, the clothing came after the name was applied to a ritual approach to wellness and building inner strength and confidence.

We’ll let Alder, our founder, tell you in his own words
.

That Whoopeecat Feeling

“Whoopeecat is what I call that perfect state of mind which can best be described as the feeling you get when you’re dancing like nobody’s watching
where you have completely tuned out the world around you and feel like you are ultra-centered, confident and all your anxieties, depression, fears, frustrations and anger have been washed away.

You’re not worrying about responsibilities, friends, family, work, what anyone thinks about you
you’re just in that great timeless place where you feel like you are in total control and can conquer the world. You feel indominable and invincible.”

That’s what Alder calls “getting his Whoopeecat on”, or groove.

Getting Your Whoopeecat On

This mindset is crucial for Alder, a tetraplegic man who broke his neck and is navigating life in an electric wheelchair for over 10 hours a day, reliant on assistance
for basic tasks.

And the only tried-and-true way for him to seize the day – to make the best of his diminished lifestyle and maintain his sense of self, a good attitude and positive mental health – is to listen to and immerse himself in his favorite music.

Every morning, and often throughout the day, he listens and lets it completely envelope him, surrounding his senses until he can feel its energy course through him.

Try it. Just shut down, tune out and let the music take over.

Origin Of The Name Whoopeecat

It comes from botching the lyrics of the Led Zeppelin song “Misty Mountain Hop”. At 1:26 of the song, Robert Plant sings, “
 please, hey, would we care
” – and it sounds exactly like “
 please, hey Whoopeecat
”

Check it out on the Internet, it’s a thing.

Art That Speaks From the Soul

Every time Alder paints, he also listens to music. So, all of his paintings are therefore the reflection of his “Whoopeecat” mood, and are intrinsically infused with energy, confidence, joy and hopefulness.

Without Whoopeecat the state of mind, there would be no body of art, and therefore, no Whoopeecat the company.

Coloring The World With Healing

Wielding the power of music and art, Alder mastered the art of metamorphosis. Through his creative rituals, he didn't just get by; he flourished, radiating an energy that was profound and contagious. In championing his own story, he inspired a melody of self-acceptance that others could dance to, clothing the world not just in fabric, but in the warm embrace of the healing nature of his art and sound.

For Alder, to 'get his Whoopiecat on' is not just a turn of phrase; it is to dwell in a realm of creative energy — a daily affirmation of his unique, unvarnished self. It is a powerful testament to the serenity and strength one can find in the melodic contours of life's symphony. And just as music and paint intertwine to tell his story, so does each thread of his clothing line, each carrying a note of his heart's song, inviting us all to wear our stories, our healing, with the same brave pride.
